Jokasafe Low-Carbon Biovyn™ Based PVC

Awareness of and concern about the environmental impact of PVC and plastics more broadly has grown considerably in recent years. However, plastics serve critical functions and cannot easily be replaced. From an occupational safety perspective, PVC-coated gloves provide effective protection against numerous harmful and hazardous chemicals. Plastics are also exceptionally durable materials. In lifecycle terms, longevity and usability reduce the environmental burden of plastics relative to many materials that are, in principle, more environmentally friendly.

What is transformative, however, is the pace of innovation. It is now possible to manufacture plastic products with a fraction of the previous CO₂ emissions. BIOVYN™ is a key raw material in PVC production that enables a decisive reduction in the carbon footprint of the finished product compared to conventional alternatives.

Sustainability is a core pillar of Jokasafe’s strategy. That is why we use only next-generation BIOVYN™ material as the primary raw material in our protective gloves.

Jokasafe’s coating is recognised for its grip performance and durability. The coating compound is manufactured in-house, drawing on over 65 years of proprietary know-how combined with best-in-class materials.

Jokasafe’s coating has a name: JOKASAFE LOW-CARBON BIOVYN™ BASED PVC. It is the name for a new generation of PVC.

What is Biovyn™?

BIOVYN™ is a fossil-free PVC primary raw material derived from renewable or recycled sources. BIOVYN™ can be produced from tall oil, a by-product of the Finnish forest industry’s wood processing operations — derived from waste wood. The defining principle is an environmentally responsible production model. BIOVYN™ is a high-quality material whose properties are fully equivalent to those of conventional, fossil-based PVC products. In Jokasafe products, BIOVYN™ delivers outstanding protection against chemicals, mechanical abrasion and extreme conditions.
